THE VAMPIRE JESUS FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE! TONIGHT'S FEATURE - FORTRESS (2012)

FORTRESS stars actors Bug Hall, Donnie Jeffcoat, Sean McGowan and Joseph Williamson. It relates the story of a B-17F crew in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations in the summer of 1943.

This movie isn't too bad, except for the ludicrous idea of distilling ethanol from gasoline and actually drinking it. In those days Avgas was laced with tetraethyl lead, and the boiling points of both are so goddamn close that it would be insanity to attempt such an effort under field conditions. Even vacuum distillation would be damn risky unless the temperature was constantly monitored, and even then, I'd never drink such with a gun to my head.

That said, the CGI is fair, perhaps it shouldn't have been so sharp, but the attention to detail in the cockpit is remarkable. Oh, and regardless of the YouTube title, Fortress is not a true story, other than the fact that B-17s were deployed in the European/Mediterranean Theaters of Operations.
