THE VAMPIRE JESUS SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE! TONIGHT'S FEATURE: CONSPIRACY THEORY (1997)

Image
CONSPIRACY THEORY is a 1997 American political action thriller film directed by Richard Donner. The original screenplay by Brian Helgeland centers on an eccentric taxi driver (Mel Gibson) who believes many world events are triggered by government conspiracies, and the Justice Department attorney (Julia Roberts) who becomes involved in his life. The movie was a financial success, but critical reviews were mixed. Conspiracy-theorist and New York City taxi driver Jerry Fletcher (Mel Gibson) continually expounds his ideas to Alice Sutton (Julia Roberts), a lawyer at the Justice Department. She humors him because he once saved her from a mugging, but is unaware he spies on her at her home. Her own work is to solve the mystery of her father (Bert Remsen)'s murder. Seeing suspicious activity everywhere, Jerry identifies some men as CIA workers, follows them into a building, and is captured. The interrogator injects a wheelchair-bound Jerry with LSD and questions him using torture. Jerr

THE VAMPIRE JESUS FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE! TONIGHT'S FEATURE: THX 1138 (1971)

Image
Tonight's feature was suggested by DTX; I've seen it before, and it is a very strange movie, though interesting. THX 1138 is a 1971 American social science fiction film directed by George Lucas in his feature film directorial debut. It is set in a dystopian future in which the populace is controlled through android police and mandatory use of drugs that suppress emotions. Produced by Francis Ford Coppola and written by Lucas and Walter Murch, it stars Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasence. In the future, sexual intercourse and reproduction are prohibited, whereas the use of mind-altering drugs is mandatory to enforce compliance among the citizens and to ensure their ability to conduct dangerous and demanding tasks. Emotions and the concept of family are taboo. Everyone is clad in identical white uniforms and has shaven heads to emphasize uniformity, except the police androids (who wear black) and robed monks. Instead of names, people have designations with three arbitrary let

The extreme measures were accompanied by other indications that Communist Party authorities were struggling to control the outbreak, notably the aggressive censorship of any criticism or skepticism on social media. But some outspoken doctors warned that the controls would not be enough to stop the spread of the pneumonia-like virus, which has now killed 17 people in Wuhan and surround

Image
RUN SILENT, RUN DEEP is a 1958 American black-and-white war film from United Artists. It was produced by Harold Hecht, directed by Robert Wise, and starred Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Commander (later Captain) Edward L. Beach Jr. The title refers to "silent running", a submarine stealth tactic. Richardson (Clark Gable), is determined to get revenge on an ace Japanese destroyer captain, nicknamed "Bungo Pete", who has sunk four US submarines in the Bungo Straits, including his previous command. WHISTLING DEATH: THE VOUGHT F4U CORSAIR!

Image
From Wikipedia: The Vought F4U Corsair is an American fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. Designed and initially manufactured by Chance Vought, the Corsair was soon in great demand; additional production contracts were given to Goodyear, whose Corsairs were designated FG, and Brewster, designated F3A. The Corsair was designed and operated as a carrier-based aircraft and entered service in large numbers with the U.S. Navy in late 1944 and early 1945. It quickly became one of the most capable carrier-based fighter-bombers of World War II. Some Japanese pilots regarded it as the most formidable American fighter of World War II, and its naval aviators achieved an 11:1 kill ratio. Yet early problems with carrier landings and logistics allowed it to be eclipsed as the dominant carrier-based fighter by the Grumman F6F Hellcat, powered by the same Double Wasp engine first flown on the Corsair's first prototype in 1940. Instead, the Corsair&

Way Overdue Movie Overview: Billy Jack

Image
Recently while looking through my DVDs, I stumbled onto one that I totally forgot I had; a low-budget movie originally released in 1971 called Billy Jack that I had not seen in many years. I popped it into the DVD player and looked forward to watching it, remembering it as a Bruce Lee-type karate kick-ass movie. My how things change over the years! What I wound up watching is best described as a distinctly anti-white propaganda film and is among the funniest unintentionally funny movies I've ever seen. The title character, played by a man named Tom Laughlin (who also wrote and produced it under various pseudonyms) is a half-breed Native American/Cracker who seems to be an early prototype for Rambo; a quiet, intense loner, a Special Forces Vietnam Vet, and most important, a one-man army who is highly skilled at armed and unarmed combat.  Billy Jack in training attacking anything white, including groovy shades  The character's debut was actually in a 1968 movie
