THREE NO-SEW DIY FACE MASKS DESIGNS

I made the middle version this morning and it came out pretty good. I'd recommend the middle version for a large adult head, using large opening "thick" elastic hair bands and also pre-stretching the hair bands around a soup can before using. The bottom mask is good for a child or smaller adult heads. Hair bands do come in different styles and sizes, so check before buying.

Also I recommend washing the bananas first with fabric softener, and drying them in a dryer to shrink the fibers, then ironing them before making the face mask.

One could cut out a filter from a high efficiency A/C filter or vacuum cleaner bag, and stick it inside the mask for extra filtration.

The mask cost $2.99 per bandanna picked up at a local gas station, and $3.49 for 10 hairbands (5 pairs) from a local drugstore. A high efficiency A/C filter is about $8.00 and I'd say at least ten filters can be cut from an 18" x 18" A/C filter.

Polyester hydro knit towels are another option, and are readily available at hardware and automotive stores. The two brands tested were ToolBox’s shop towel and ZEP’s industrial blue towel"

"Inserting two of these towels into an ordinary cotton mask brought filtration up to 93% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, the smallest their machine could test. Meanwhile, the cotton masks filtered 60% of particles at best in their tests.

5-Layer replaceable protective activated carbon mask filter pads can also be used with this style mask and are listed for sale on eBay.

The mask I made following the instructions in the video:
