Rachel Maddow has been the centerpiece of MSNBC’s primetime lineup for over a decade.

Her show is where socialists and conspiracy theorists go to say their piece.

But now Rachel Maddow couldn’t believe that her career took this strange turn with Fox News.


For nearly two decades Fox News was the top-rated cable news network.

But now their audience is splintering thanks to hosts like Chris Wallace adopting the anti-Trump line.

Before the election, Tucker Carlson had been averaging six million viewers to be the top-rated host on all of cable news.

But on Monday night, Rachel Maddow surpassed him and led MSNBC to being the most-watched network in cable news.


To make matters worse for Fox, the network averaged the least amount of viewers in the 18-49 age demographic, which is what matters the most since that is the number advertisers look at when setting ad rates for their commercials.

Mediaite reports:

The Rachel Maddow Show — which broke some exclusive reporting from NBC News about developments in the Rudy Giuliani investigation — was the most-watched show in all of cable news, with 3.38 million total viewers and 529,000 in the demo…

… In prime time, MSNBC averaged 2.63 million total viewers, and 381,000 in the demo. Fox News had the second-most viewers overall, 2.36 million, but had the fewest in the demo, with 315,000. CNN had the fewest total viewers, 1.74 million, but won the demo, with 406,000 younger viewers.

These are unheard of heights for MSNBC.

During the Robert Mueller investigation, Rachel Maddow would sometimes be the top-rated show in the cable news ratings horse race. But MSNBC would never beat out Fox News as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham would draw big ratings.

Those days are no more as Fox’s viewership is split and MSNBC and CNN are still experiencing the Trump bump from liberal viewers.
