Report: Trump Inquired About Potential Special Counsel To Investigate Hunter Biden
Hunter Biden announced last week through the Biden-Harris transition team that his taxes are now under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware.
It’s safe to say President Donald Trump is not satisfied with how the government is investigating Hunter Biden.
Assuming Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20, investigations into the Biden family could be in jeopardy.
As such, reports suggest that Trump is leaning towards appointing a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.
A special counsel would operate independently of the Department of Justice and Biden would find himself in hot water if he fired or attempted to end the investigation.

President Trump is talking to advisers about asking for a special counsel to be appointed to continue investigating Hunter Biden, the son of President-elect Joe Biden, according to a report.
The news, reported by the Associated Press, comes as Trump’s days in office dwindle and questions swirl about how a Biden administration would handle the ongoing Justice Department investigation into Hunter Biden. The president-elect has dodged repeated questions about the investigation into his son since it became public this month.
According to the Associated Press, Trump has spoken with White House Counsel Pat Cippalone and chief of staff Mark Meadows about whether he should push to have incoming Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen appoint a special counsel on the matter.
Rosen is taking over the Justice Department after Trump said earlier this week that Attorney General William Barr is leaving the department.
Joe Biden issued a statement last week through the Biden–Harris Transition Team expressing pride in his son.
“President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger,” he said.
Hunter Biden has come under intense scrutiny in the past year for his role on the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian gas company, while his father as vice president was in charge of U.S. policy toward Ukraine.
Hunter Biden’s other business dealings, including in China, and his father’s alleged role in them, have also come under scrutiny.
It was also reported last week that federal investigators are looking at Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden.
According to Politico, Joe Biden’s younger brother is also in the crosshairs of federal authorities in the Western District of Pennsylvania concerning a hospital business in which James Biden was involved.
Citing unnamed sources, Politico reported that federal officials have begun to ask about James Biden’s role in the business in an investigation that is continuing.
The outlet said there isn’t any indication that Joe Biden is part of any current investigation.
In October, during an interview on Fox News, Trump said that he believed Barr had an obligation to act on the Hunter Biden scandal.
It came in response to a question about him potentially appointing a special counsel to investigate Hunter, something he is now said to be considering.
“We’ve got to get the attorney general to act. He’s got to act, and he’s got to act fast. He’s got to appoint somebody. This is major corruption and this has to be known about before the election,” he said.
