A dose of reality for Schumer

Chuck Schumer was hit with one reality check that set Democrats up for this big defeat

Democrats are facing a major challenge.

The Presidential election is in dispute and the party lost seats in the House of Representatives.

And now Chuck Schumer was hit with one reality check that set Democrats up for this big defeat.

Republicans currently hold a 50-48 majority in the Senate heading into the next Congress.

There are two runoff elections in Georgia that will determine if the Senate is deadlocked at 50-50 – in which a potential Vice President Kamala Harris will cast a tie breaking vote to advance Joe Biden’s agenda – or if Republicans will maintain their majority.

One of the Democrat Senate hopefuls in Georgia Raphael Warnock is concerned.

Warnock went on CNN and warned against trying to nationalize the race claiming Democrat Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer – and the prospect of the kind of agenda a Majority Leader Schumer would push through the Senate – was on the ballot.

“And Chuck Schumer’s name is certainly not on the ballot. I will tell you what is on the ballot. Health care is on the ballot, access to affordable health care. We have got 500,000 Georgians in the Medicaid gap. We have got 1.8 million Georgians with preexisting conditions. And if Kelly Loeffler has her way, people who have asthma, people who have hypertension, diabetes — these are folks in my family and in my church, folks who are survivors of cancer — may find themselves without health care. And that is what this race is about. And that what I will continue to lift up even as I move across the great state of Georgia. People are responding to that message. And that is why we are in such a strong position. She will try every desperate attack that she can make, but this race is about the people of Georgia,” Warnock told fake news CNN host Jake Tapper.

Typically the candidate who is trying to prevent a Congressional race from being nationalized is the one that is most at risk of losing.

The political environment flows from the top and if Warnock is worried that Chuck Schumer or other national issues will be front and center in the minds of voters, that means Warnock thinks Democrats are heavy underdogs to win the two Georgia Senate races.
