Abortion, Nancy Pelosi, and Roses
(TheRedAlertNews.com) Certain political and social issues in the United States of America divide the country right down the middle.
Abortion is one such issue.
The liberal Democrats are pro-choice, while the conservative Republicans are pro-life.
This is why states held firmly by the Democrats have laws that let you quickly get an abortion if you don’t want to have a baby. However, in the case of Republican majority states, doctors (in lieu of the law) are asked to refrain from performing abortion procedures.
One of the reasons that conservatives are pro-life is that they are religious or from a culture where abortions are considered wrong. Catholicism is the largest religion in the United States, and most Catholics are against abortion. However, there are some exceptions, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who happens to be a Catholic and supports the pro-choice view.
Archbishop of San Francisco Salvatore Cordileone is upset with Pelosi, like many other Catholics in the country and worldwide. They believe it is unordinary for a woman who follows the Catholic faith to speak in favor of abortions.
So, the Archbishop, along with his associates, has started a practice of sending roses to the Speaker’s office every day. Each rose sent to Nancy Pelosi represents a person who has signed the petition to change her stance on abortion. The Archbishop hopes that this gesture will make Nancy Pelosi have a change of heart.
Will she have a change of heart? Well, it’s too early to say, but most probably not. However, we’ll have to wait and pray and see how things turn out with Nancy Pelosi and the roses sent by Catholics to her office every day.
