"Elites" are NOT elite

Reading various Disqus news sites, I find that one thing really sets me off:  referring to those with extreme wealth and power, as elite.  Seriously?  What is elite about morally bankrupt, corrupt, evil people?  


A truly elite person to me is the hard-working men and women who do everything they can to take the best care of their families, the soldiers who risk their lives for our freedom, the young teenaged boy---my father---who spent all of his free time working jobs after school to help his mother after his father left the family, the first responders who risk it all on a daily basis.....


Instead, we have a large segment of this sick society that glorifies scum.  


The "elitists" of Rome fell, and if continued on the current path, so shall the faux elitists of our world today.

We can only speculate at what history would have looked like had these public figures had not been murdered, but for better or for worse, history was definitely altered.
