Neil Patrick Harris hospitalized following run-in with a sea urchin

Neil Patrick Harris is on the mend following an accident at sea. The former “Doogie Howser, M.D.” posted a photo of himself on the other side of the scalpel Wednesday in an Instagram posting from the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.


The 46-year-old actor said he injured himself a couple months ago by stumbling onto a sea urchin, whose tiny spines pierced his hands and caused an infection. “Had surgery today,” wrote Harris, who famously played a teenage surgeon 30 years ago on the popular ABC hospital comedy. “I tripped and hand planted onto a sea urchin almost two months ago while climbing rocky cliffs in Croatia.”
