The benefits of intermittent fasting and OMAD (one meal a day): Autophagy.

Like any adult with a modicum of self-preservation and awareness, I am always researching ways to stay healthy.   Not that I want to live to be a centenarian, since the world is getting worse by the day.  

The concept of autophagy----the body’s way of cleaning out damaged cells, in order to regenerate newer, healthier cells-----is not a new one, but is garnering much attention lately as we strive to stay as healthy as we can in the era of COVID.

One of the best ways to induce autophagy is through intermittent fasting, and one of the best ways to do that is by eating one meal a day--OMAD.   No calorie counting, and eating what you most like for your one meal.  Very important, however, to ensure that you get your required macro-, and micro-, nutrients.   And patients with diabetes should not attempt this without first consulting with their physician.
